Wood Smoke Exposure System

Wood smoke exposure system   Old and New Woodstoves

The Wood Smoke Exposure System is used for investigating the health effects from exposure to wood burning emissions, a common indoor and outdoor pollutant in many areas of the country and in developing nations.

To expand to this facility, we have currently designed an automation system to streamline user capabilities and prevent variability and user error.  This automation system also increases efficiency by decreasing personnel demands.  It allows for consistent and reproducible exposure values, as seen in the image below.  This shows a particulate matter (PM) target value of 3 mg/m3, which was maintained by the automation system.
