New Resources to Facilitate Your Research Seminar

New Resources to Facilitate Your Research

Friday February 26, 2016, 12:10 – 1:00 pm, Skaggs Building 169, University of Montana

Researchers need broad access to sophisticated approaches that resolve cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying disease processes.   However, the cost and technical skills required to obtain, utilize and maintain instrumentation are often barriers for researchers.  Shared Resource Cores are a key necessity for providing communal access to the current technologies needed to support forefront research activities.  They are a critical investment for the future success, recruitment, and retention of leading edge scientists.

The University of Montana is fortunate to provide many Shared Resource Core Facilities offering a wide variety of state-of-the art equipment and expertise.  The Cores are spread out among departments and colleges, but are available to any UM researcher.  Recent efforts have brought these Cores together to bring a sense of collaboration, expand communication, improve fiscal stewardship, and avoid duplication of services.  One main goal is to educate the UM community about the availability of the fine resources available.

This seminar, hosted by the Center for Environmental Health Services (CEHS), will highlight some of the recent instrumentation additions to campus and how those resources can be utilized in research efforts.  While focusing on new acquisitions, an introduction to most of the Core facilities and Core Managers will also take place.  Printed brochures with contact information will be shared for follow up.

Research efforts by Principal Investigators from a variety of departments and colleges have brought tremendous success to the UM campus.  The availability of high-end technology has contributed highly to this success.  Join us to hear how your project could benefit!
